Abstract

This community service activity aims to explore in more depth the cultural meaning and social function of the Roisan Kondangan tradition among the people of Depok City, West Java. This tradition is a form of local wisdom that still survives today and is an important part of the social life of the residents. Using a qualitative approach, the data collection process was carried out through in-depth interviews with key informants such as traditional leaders, event committees, and residents who actively participate in this tradition. In addition, direct field observations and document analysis were also carried out to strengthen the findings. The results of the study show that Roisan Kondangan plays a major role in strengthening social solidarity in the community. This tradition is carried out through reciprocal practices in the form of contributions in the form of money or goods, which are recorded manually in a special book. This contribution is not only economic, but also contains moral and social values, because it reflects the spirit of mutual assistance and the desire to maintain good relations between residents. This recording process also functions as a reminder and regulates social justice so that there is no inequality in the amount of assistance. Interestingly, although this system was born from traditional values, the form of its implementation has begun to adapt to developments in the era, such as the use of cash and informal agreements based on trust. Thus, this tradition is not rigid, but flexible and open to change. The sustainability of the Roisan Kondangan tradition shows that local communities still hold strong the values of mutual cooperation and togetherness as the basis for establishing social relations. This makes the tradition not only a symbol of cultural resilience, but also a social capital that supports development based on inclusive and sustainable local values..
