Abstract

This writing aims to examine the role of Islamic counseling to overcome the problem of domestic violence (KDRT) regarding toxic parenting. The aim of writing this article is to achieve a better understanding of the factors that contribute to harmful parenting and to help develop Islamic guidance and counseling techniques to deal with emerging problems. The method used in this writing is literature review. The results of this research show that the causes of toxic parenting are the parents' past, stress and pressure, parents' unfulfilled ambitions, and wrong parenting patterns. Then, the impact of toxic parenting on children is mental health disorders, stress and pressure, low self-esteem, and hampered social emotional development. Approaches in Islamic counseling support in overcoming toxic parenting problems, such as family counseling and the gestalt approach. The results obtained are that children and parents can establish effective communication and form a harmonious family, as well as increasing self-awareness of the actions taken.
