This study aims to analyze the psychological dynamics of children who experience the loss of a parent in the context of a dysfunctional family. Losing a parent during adolescence is a very shocking emotional experience, especially if it is not balanced with adequate emotional support. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on a teenager in Nalumsari Village, Jepara, who lost both of his parents and had to live in an unsupportive family environment. The results showed that the combination of losing a parent and living in a dysfunctional family had a significant impact on the child's mental condition, such as the emergence of anxiety, feelings of neglect, low selfesteem, and the desire to end their life. An unstable family environment exacerbates the grieving process, making children lose a safe space to process their emotions. These findings emphasize the importance of the role of the social environment, such as teachers, counselors, and community leaders, in providing psychological assistance and creating a safe and sustainable support system for children facing complex trauma. Appropriate interventions can be key in the process of recovery and rebuilding children's hopes for a healthier future mentally and emotionally.
