Early divorce among young couples in Ploso, Central Java, particularly those whose marriage lasts under five years, has become a rising concern. This study aims to identify the causal factors, relational dynamics, and conflict management strategies among young couples undergoing early divorce. Utilizing conflict theory by Lewis A. Coser and social exchange theory by George C. Homans and Peter Blau, this research employs a qualitative case study method with a phenomenological approach. The findings reveal that imbalance in roles, unmet expectations, poor communication, and lack of emotional and economic support contribute significantly to marital breakdown. The study highlights how traditional family values are being challenged by modern relational expectations, even in conservative rural settings.
